The Galileos Imaging system produces a high-resolution, 3D cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan of your head and neck region. Unlike most general dentistry offices, we are able to make detailed assessments of your teeth, sinuses, jaw joints, airway and cervical vertebrae in multiple cross sections. Not only does this help identify oral and maxillofacial issues that may be invisible on a 2D x-ray, it helps us to get better treatment outcomes by navigating the dentition with accuracy.
Some issues, such as missed endodontically treated canals and root fractures, can lead to prolonged periods of incorrect diagnoses. Other conditions, like maxillary sinusitis, can be confused with dental pain and lead to unnecessary treatments. The Galileos can help us visualize the sinus structures and possibly rule out a root canal. 3D imaging helps identify these problems with greater speed and certainty so that you may get the treatment that you need and deserve.
With this knowledge at our disposal, we are able to more accurately address your dental needs. New patients receive a 3D CBCT scan at their initial appointment. The findings will be discussed with you during your evaluation.
